Collection Ads
A mobile-only Meta ad format combining a cover image or video with a product tile grid that opens a full-screen in-app storefront when tapped.
Your single-image ad shows one product. Collection Ads show the cover creative plus three product tiles in-feed, all visible before the user taps anything. Tapping opens an Instant Experience: a full-screen storefront that loads inside Meta’s app, not your website.
As of 2026, Collection is a Format display option inside Ad creative in Ads Manager — not a top-level format selector. If you haven’t set one up recently, the option may not be where you remember it.
How it shows up in the wild
Scandiweb (four ecommerce clients: thegoodlife., Rare Seeds, Bulk Herb Store, Home Folk): Collection Ads delivered a +62% ROAS lift and +35% average order value increase versus standard single-image and video formats in a 30-day head-to-head. CTR ran 32% higher and CPC ran 34% lower. Cost per acquisition held roughly flat — the efficiency gain came from customers spending more per order, not from cheaper clicks.
ATTN Agency (127 ecommerce accounts, $3.8M in tracked Collection Ad spend): 2.8× higher engagement and 45% lower CPA versus standard carousel or single-image formats, per an analysis spanning 127 DTC accounts. DTC brands specifically saw a 67% conversion rate increase. Catalog-connected (DPA) collection ads outperformed manually configured ones by 45% on CPA and 66% on CTR — suggesting the catalog connection matters as much as the format itself.
Why it matters
Instant Experience pages load up to 15× faster than standard mobile websites, which removes the site-speed drop-off that typically kills conversion between the feed tap and the product page. The format also exposes multiple SKUs passively — before the user has decided to engage.
My hunch is that the AOV lift in the Scandiweb study is the more durable signal. I think users who see three product tiles in-feed before tapping arrive at the Instant Experience already primed to browse multiple items — a different purchase behavior than a single-image ad produces.

Frequently asked questions
Do Collection Ads work on desktop? No. Collection Ads are mobile-only and don’t serve on desktop placements. If your audience skews heavily toward desktop, you’ll need a different format.
Where is the Collection Ads option in Ads Manager in 2026? It’s inside the Format display options within Ad creative — not a top-level format selector. Meta moved it there in early 2026, so the path differs from older tutorials and documentation.
Do I need a product catalog to run Collection Ads? No, but the data suggests you should use one. Catalog-connected (DPA) collection ads show 45% lower CPA and 66% higher CTR than manually configured collection ads in the ATTN Agency analysis.
